Title: | Proteins which induce immunological effector cell activation and chemattraction | Inventors: | Cantor, Harvey I.; Wellesley, MA, USA
Patarca, Roberto M.; Brookline, MA, USA
Schwartz, Joel L.; Newton Centre, MA, USA | Summary: | This invention introduces a recombinant activation protein which is expressed by lymphoid cells and which induces immunological effector cell activation and chemattraction. Described herein are genes and their encoded proteins which induce immunological effector cell activation and chemattraction according to the ability of the proteins to attract subsets of immunological effector cells and to stimulate these cells to express their specialized effector cell functions. Further disclosed are properties of such proteins, termed Ap-1 proteins, which are expressed by lymphoid cells and which bind to effector cells such as macrophages and mast cells, such that the Ap-1 proteins induce macrophage phagocytosis, the expression of class II major histocompatibility molecules, cytotoxicity, migration, and the differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. Therapeutic applications of the Ap-1 molecules are included for the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory or immune disorders such as neoplasia. | Abstract: | | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5049659 | Application Number: | US1988000153887 | Date Filed: | 09/02/1988 | Date Published: | 17/09/1991 | Assignee: | Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, USA |
