Attah-Poku, Samuel K.; Saskatchewan, Canada Heise-Qualtiere, Janette; Saskatchewan, Canada | Summary: | Described herein are primitive cell colony stimulating factors isolated from pluripotent lympho-hematopoietic progenitor cells that are free of mature lymphoid and myeloid cells. Central to the invention is the discovery of non-adherent (NA) cells which have properties indicating that they may be pluripotent lymphohematopoietic progenitor cells and which are derived from bone marrow cultures and produce factors that stimulate the growth of primitive cell colonies. Further disclosed are methods by which these primitive cell colony stimulating factors (PC-CSFs) may be used in the treatment of disorders which can be alleviated by the proliferation of specific cells. Therapeutic applications are included for the use of such NA cells and PC-CSFs as alternative or supplementary methods to bone marrow transplantation in the alleviation of hematopoietic disorders. | Abstract: | | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5256560 | Application Number: | US1991000677617 | Date Filed: | 27/03/1991 | Date Published: | 26/10/1993 | Assignee: | University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada |
