Wijelath, Errol S.; Seattle, WA, USA | Summary: | Described herein are methods of promoting endothelialization of a synthetic vascular graft via the administration of an agent which increases the concentration of bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitors in the graft recipient’s blood. Claims of the invention include mobilized bone marrow-derived CD34+ cells into the bloodstream as a result of the agent administered according to this method, such that the adherence of blood-borne endothelial progenitors to graft surfaces is enhanced, or such that the multiplication of endothelial progenitors that have adhered to the graft surfaces is enhanced. Therapeutic methods are disclosed for increasing the number and inhibiting the destruction of hematopoietic progenitor cells in the treatment of a variety of diseases. | Abstract: | | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5880090 | Application Number: | US1997000933648 | Date Filed: | 19/09/1997 | Date Published: | 09/03/1999 | Assignee: | The Hope Heart Institute, Seattle, WA, USA |
