Stem Cell Related Patent Number US6103523
Title: | Pluripotent rabbit cell lines and method of making | Inventors: | Moreadith, Randall; Chapel Hill, NC, USA
Schoonjans, Luc; Wilsele, Belgium | Summary: | This invention introduces mainly undifferentiated rabbit embryonic stem (ES) cells, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to a pluripotent rabbit ES cell line which consists preferably of 80 to 90% undifferentiated cells and which is obtainable by isolating the inner cell mass of blastocysts that are 5.5 days old, and culturing them on feeder cells in a rabbit ES cell medium. Further disclosed are methods of optimizing the derivation and maintenance of the cell line and for the use of such cells in the generation of chimeric rabbits. Therapeutic and experimental applications are included for disease models and for use as a new selective trypsinization reagent. | Abstract: | The present invention relates to a rabbit embryonic stem (ES) cell line, comprising at least 70%, preferably 80 to 90% undifferentiated cells and obtainable by isolating the inner cell mass of 5.5 days postcoitus blastocysts and culturing them on feeder cells in rabbit ES medium. The invention further relates to further optimization of derivation and maintainance of the cell line and to the use thereof in inter alia generation of chimeric rabbits. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US6103523 | Application Number: | US1997000810945 | Date Filed: | 27/02/1997 | Date Published: | 15/08/2000 | Assignee: | Thromb-X N.V., Leuven, Belgium |
